Baptism in Sunrise!

April 19, 2021

Hey everyone!

Hope yall are having a great day? ðŸ™‚ This past week was awesome! Every week is SO different on the mission but this week was a really good one.

First cool thing that happened this week was zone conference! It was my first one in the central conference so that was different. I loved it though. They are always super spiritual. President and Sister Metts are just awesome. It's also so fun cause I slowly know more and more missionaries, so it's super fun seeing old companions and stuff.

Another cool thing that happened was interviews with President. There's not really anything to say about it except it was awesome. I just like talk to President Metts. Both me and Elder Rose's interviews were super fast but that's okay.

One of the people I was teaching in sunrise got baptized yesterday!! That was soooo great. I got to go back to my old area and be there for the baptism. I can't describe how awesome it was. I got to see my old companion, Elder Hanks, who did the baptism and I did the confirmation. It was my first time doing it and I was a little nervous tbh. BUT it was really great and I think I said all the right stuff haha. It was hard leaving the sunrise ward at the start of the transfer but I feel really good about it now. This probably sounds kinda lame, but I feel like I got the closure I needed and I no longer want to go back (in a good way haha). I was only there for a transfer so it felt really fast but the Lord needed me somewhere else. Everything been great though and hopefully next week will be just as good!

Love yall,

Covid Vaccine

April 12, 2021

Hey guys!! Things have been going great here in chambers creek. We haven't had to many lessons so far but we've put a lot of emphasis on finding. It's been fun. I'm slowly getting to know the ward better which is good. A bunch of our ward watches over zoom on sundays, so our ward seems a lot smaller than it actually is.

I don't think I mentioned this last week but we live in the wap house! It's got so much room and it's the best. Almost as nice as the Gig house. It's crazy because there are some really run down apartments that some missionaries get stuck in, and I've always been super lucky with the really nice places. I've lived in two HOUSES so far on the mission haha. It's a blessing for sure.

Soooo one thing that happened this week was we got our covid vaccines!! It was actually really cool how they did it. We never had to get out of our car at all. It was like a drive through... except for a shot!! I think the state of Washington is going to let basically anyone get the shot very soon. As missionaries, we are in contact with a lot of people of a lot of different age groups, so I thought it was smart for us to get it. We didn't have any symptoms or anything for most of the day. Once it hit night thought we were all were not doing so hot. We didn't have a fever or anything, but just had massive headaches and stuff like that. It wasn't fun. Luckily it's all over now and we're feeling good.

Much love,
Elder Macfarlane

Change is Good!

April 5, 2021

Hey!

We had transfers this week and I am now serving in Chambers Creek in Tac-South! Last transfer went by sooo fast! It's crazy. My new companion is Elder Rose and he's cool. I do miss the sunrise ward but the transition has gone really well. Elder Rose has just had to explain (in detail) all the people we are trying to teach. It's always hard to go to a new area and a new ward but I'll get used to it. I'm slowly getting to know the missionaries in the zone and the members in our ward. I barely even got to know the members in sunrise haha! It's all good though and I know I'm here for reason.

A couple highlights from this week was general conference and Easter! We got to go over to a couple members houses for general conference and it was awesome. Its so cool listening to a modern day prophet and apostles that are here for us at this specific time. I absolutely love general conference especially as a missionary! They had an Easter egg hunt for the primary and Me and Elder Rose got to hide them all. It was a lot of eggs. It was great though!

Little thought for this week:
I've grown to really enjoy change. Change is always hard but its necessary to continue growing as a missionary and as a person in general. I know for me it was hard even going out on a mission because of all the unknowns, BUT I'm so glad I did and it's insane how much you grow. If you really think about it, that's why we are here on earth in the first place! We couldn't grow anymore in the premortal life and we needed to change (or gain a body) to continue to grow! Change is necessary but hard. Its always hard leaving an area but one thing I've learned from our past zone conference is to never dwell on the past. Or as president says: Regret. Just gotta keep pressing forward and looking for the good. I'm grateful to be serving in tac south and to be a missionary!
