Blessing the sick

 October 19, 2021

Hello everyone!

I can't believe it's already almost the end of another transfer. Next week we find out if we stay or not. Thats crazy. These past 5 weeks have flew by. I really really really want to stay :) The ward here in South hill is way cool and I want to continue working with our friends towards baptisms.

My greenie, Elder Marx, is reassigned from the Scotland and Ireland mission. He found out this week that he's heading to Scotland on the 27th! Thats way exciting for him. I will miss him a lot but I'm glad he gets to go. It was just visa problems.

This week has been full of miracles! We had the opportunity to give 4 priesthood blessings this week. The really cool thing was every family was a less active member. Even though they didn't attend church regularly, they had a firm testimony in the priesthood. And because they were members, they knew to reach out to the missionaries for help. I love being a missionary. It brings me so much joy being able to help those families. Very tender moments.

Quick story about one of the blessings we gave this past week... Basically we had just gotten out of a lesson and it was around 4:30pm. We were about a 20 min bike ride away from home. We started biking back and then we saw cop cars shinning their lights on the side of the road! We immediately slowed down. My comp said "I wonder if someone needs a blessing." We didn't know what was going on. When we got close to the cops we realize there was a crowd of people standing around. It was a car crash! One of the cars was completely totaled. Everyone was safe. We had gotten off our bikes at this point and we were walking them down the road. We pass the police cars and didn't really know what to do. We heard a women call out to us. She said "Hey missionaries! ... my daughter needs a blessing." Those were her exact words. Me and Elder Marx were shocked. Her daughter had gotten in the crash and was doing okay physically, but was in a world of emotions. We walked down a little trail where it was nice and quiet. The father got to watch as we gave his daughter a blessing of comfort. Everyone was in tears. After the blessing the daughter asked "How did you know there was a car crash? How did you know?" The simple answer is we didn't. We had no idea. The Lord knew where we needed to be and put us there. We told her that we were biking home and it was all God's hand. This experience strengthened my testimony on missionary work and how God is at the helm. I know it impacted this family too. This is His work. He is putting people in our paths. Full time missionary or not... he is putting people in our paths that are ready to hear the gospel. Share what you know to be true. As you do, God will direct you to more and more people that are ready because of the  trust you have built with Heavenly Father. Listen to prompting you receive and act on them. Trust God. Love Him. Do His work because you love him.

Have a great week,
Elder Macfarlane
